The Allegany County United Way would like to announce that it completed its 2009 fundraising campaign. This year the United Way raised $301,170; and exceeded its fundraising goal of $287,000 by over fourteen thousand dollars. All together now we have raised $5,179,423.

"The Allegany County United Way would like to thank all the generous participants in this year's fundraising campaign," stated Allegany County United Way executive director Julie Briggs Cunningham. "This year, we raised more in our campaign than we have ever raised! It just shows you how generous and supportive the people in Allegany County are and what a tremendous impact they make," continued Briggs Cunningham.

"Raising $301,170 is not an easy task. It takes a lot of dedicated people working together to do this. I would like to thank our all of our volunteers and donors who helped us with our mission. You have done a phenomenal job!" stated Donna Sweet, Allegany County United Way Campaign Chair.

In 2008, the Allegany County United Way funded 19 health and human service agencies that provided 29 vital programs to assist the residents within our county as well as the Success By 6 Initiative, the Earned Income Tax Credit Initiative and several partnerships. The allocation process for 2009 is currently underway.
